Mrs. Karl Burgess of this city received announcement recently of the birth of a son to Mr. and Mrs. Albert Baxter in Las Vegas, November 24. Herbert Milne and son Dale, were St. George visitors from Cedar City, Sunday. LaRue Cox was home from Provo and Earl Cox from Virginia Vir-ginia City, Nev., to spend Thanksgiving with relatives. Earl will remain for the winter. Dr. and Mrs. Virgil Snow and son were here from Cedar City for Thanksgiving. Guests of Mrs. Snow's parents, Mayor and Mrs. Clark Watson. Eugene Bringhurst spent the Thanksgiving holidays in Salt Lake City with friends. Woodrow Dennett spent the Thanksgiving holidays here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Dennett, returning to Provo on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Cox of Gun-lock Gun-lock spent Tuesday and Wednesday Wednes-day in St. George visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Theo-dore W. Dill. The S-10 club held its regular weekley meeting on Monday night with Miss Floy Neilson as hostess. host-ess. The first part of the evening eve-ning was spent in sewing after which refreshments were served from a make-believe "All-Night Lunch Stand". The remainder of the evening was spent in playing Bingo with eight prizes being given to winners. The Bridge Ettes were guests Wednesday afternoon of Mrs. Bud Seegmiller with Mrs. Grant Whitehead, and Mrs. Robert Pick ett sharing honors. Mrs. Lamond Blair arrived last week from Los Angeles to remain with her father, Frank Spencer, who is ill. Returning to their respective schools Sunday after the Thanksgiving Thanks-giving vacation were Ted Simmons, Sim-mons, Pershing and LeGrand Nelson Nel-son to the U. of U., and Fawn Schmutz, Ray Schmutz and Shirl Pitchforth to the B. Y. U. Tex Mosley, Schuyler and Junior Jun-ior Gardner spent Thanksgiving with relatives in Delta. Mrs. Lillian Gluyas was a St. George visitor Thursday over Sunday Sun-day at the home of her sister, Mrs. Kate B. Empey. A family i Thanksgiving dinner at the Empey Em-pey home honored their mother, Mrs. Alice B. Bleak. Alma and Norman Baker, sons of Mr. and Mrs. William Baker, injured last Saturday afternoon when they fell from the rear of their father's pick-up on which they were riding, are reported rapidly improving. Alma had his left arm broken over a former break scar and Norman sustained sustain-ed fractured ribs. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Riding arrived ar-rived last Sunday from Tropic to spend the winter doing Temple work. Mrs. Melvin Bryant returned Tuesday from Logan where she i has been visiting since November 8 with Mr. and Mrs. Culbert Laney. Mrs. Bryant reports that a child was born to Mr. and Mrs. Laney on November 13. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Page and small son spent from Thursday to Sunday visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Weibcl. Mr. and Mrs. Antone Prince and family spent the Thanksgiving Thanksgiv-ing week-end in Van Xuys, Calif., at the home of Dr. Milton Cot-tam. Rulon Whitehead left Sunday evening to resume his studies at U. S. C. after spending Thanksgiving Thanksgiv-ing with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Whitehead. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Whitehead of Manti were also week-end guests at the home of their parents. E. W. Simmons, manager of the Pickett Lumber company is in Los Angeles on business. Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Reber and son Bobby, and Mrs. N. J. Wadsworth Wads-worth and daughter, Mrs. Marion Bowler are spending the fore port of the week in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. James A. Hutch-ings Hutch-ings of Beaver spent several days during the past week at the home of their son, Dr. M. O. Hutch-ings. Hutch-ings. They are in Las Vegas now and will visit here again next week enroute home. Don't miss Alice Faye in, "Tin Pan Alley", Wadsworth Theatre, Saturday through Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Pace and small daughter, Penny Rae were Thanksgiving week-end v i s i t o rs at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. John W. Pace. Mr. and Mrs. Antone Nisson of Provo were visiting St. George relatives and friends over the week-end. Jack Riding, 12-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Riding underwent under-went surgery in the local hospital hos-pital on November 22. The H-n-H sewing club held their November 26 session at the home of Mrs. Wendell Snow. Birthday anniversaries of Mrs. Snow and Mrs. Floyd Whicker were remembered in the evening's program, both occurring this week. Miss Viola Woodbury and sisters, sis-ters, Iris, Lael, Reba and Laurel, motored to New Harmony to sriend Thanksgiving with friends. The Easy Aces club held their regular meeting Wednesday night at the home of Mrs. Kenneth Cox. First prizes went to Mrs. Clyde McQuaid, second to Mrs. Reed Mathis, and consolation to Mrs. Rulon Pectol. |
