Show Plans Announced For Annual Dixie College Fine Arts Festival 1 The annual Dixie College Fine Arts Festival will be held this year on December 7, 8, and 9 it was announced today by Roy A. West, publicity director for the festival. Every effort will be made this year, declares Mr. West, to secure the support of the entire community com-munity with the view of making it a community affair as much as a college event. With this in mind, the various clubs and civic organizations organi-zations of the city are being asked to cooperate by sending representatives represen-tatives who will become a part of r the general organization. This will be the fourth annual festival, the first being held in 1935. That year pictures vere on display from November 22 to December De-cember 6. On December 6 the Ivins Memorial was dedicated as part of the program and the Festival Festi-val came to a close that evening with the Fine Arts Ball. Each year this event has taken on added significants with more and more pictures being brought here to go on display. Pictures have been sent here from all parts of the United States and the college and St. George have received favorable comment from this annual event. D. Elden Beck, who is now at B.Y.U., was one of the instigators of the festival and it was through his efforts, as a leader, that it has grown to the three-day program that was sponsored last year. This year the committees in charge declare that every effort is being made to continue the j improvement that has been shown each year since its inaugeration. jThe committee is particularly ; anxious that the whole community get behind them so that an out- standing program will be pre- sented. |
