Show LOCAL GRAZING CHAIRMEN ATTEND .WASH. D. C. MEET Wayne Gardner and Judge Le-Roy Le-Roy Cox, District Grazing chairman, chair-man, attended a meeting called by Secretary of the Interior Harold Har-old Ickes, in Washington, D. C. on July 8 and 9. Chairman from the grazing boards of the eleven western states were prebeiu ul the sessions. President Roosevelt had just signed the bill which made an additional addi-tional 62,000,000 acres alloted for grazing. This was in addition to to the original allotment of 80,-000,000. 80,-000,000. The added acres do not affect the set-up in Utah or Arizona, Mr. Gardner said. The object of the meeting was to learn from various chairmen just how the Taylor Grazing Act was working in their districts and to secure an expression from them for any change that might be of value. In speaking of the new districts, dis-tricts, Mr. Gardner stated that Utah already had more districts than any other state. There will be new ones set up in Nevada according to the information given them at the meeting, he reported'. Round table discussions were featured, giving each man an opportunity op-portunity to express himself and tell of his problems. In the final analysis, Mr. Gardner declared it was the belief of those present pres-ent that the act was working out for the igood of the greatest majority. Following the two special meetings meet-ings with Secretary Ickes, the group were taken to the White-house White-house and given a personal introduction in-troduction to President Roosevelt. |
