Show Hurricane Wins From Vegas; Loses To Overton HURRICANE, Utah The Hurricane Hur-ricane High basketball team accompanied ac-companied by Coach Walter Brooks and Principal, L. B. Bennett, Ben-nett, took a practice tour Thursday Thurs-day and Friday, December 16 and 17, to Las Vegas and Overton. The scores were: Las Vegas 31, Hurricane 36, and Moapa Valley (Overton) 40, Hurricane 39. The first game was won by Hurricane during and extra period play-off, the regular playing time producing a 31-31 tie. During the play-off Hurricane scored two field goals and a foul pitch while holding hold-ing the Vegans scoreless. The game was close and hard-fought all the way. At the quarter Hurricane Hur-ricane led 5-4, but Las Vegas came back to lead at the half 18-15. At the end of the third period the count was 23 all. The leading scorer of this game was Ward Wright, speedy Hurricane forward who caged 14 points. The Las Vegas Evening Review Jouranl says the Hurricane quintette quin-tette is a fast and speedy outfit, "Who know all the trick of this game of basket ball. Hurricane fans are now wondering wonder-ing how their team will compare with the Dixie Five. Dixie recently .defeated Moapa Valley and was defeated by Las Vegas. Hurricane defeated Las Vegas and was defeated de-feated by Moapa Valley. The meeting meet-ing of the two teams is looked forward to with great interest |
