Show Local Store Moves To New Location On 1st North St With the occupancy of its new building next to the Standard Cafe on January 20, the O.K. Market, Mar-ket, under the management of Harold Miles, will have culminated culminat-ed one of the ambitions that its owners have had since the business busi-ness was first started in 1923. From its conception, back in 1923, when the business originated originat-ed from the Cafe and Bakery, and occupied the building owned by John T. Atkn and John Pulsipher, which was originally, "The St. George Co-op," the management of the O.K. Market has had "service" "ser-vice" as its pirit of business and watchword, declares Mr. Miles. The fact that they must have lived liv-ed up to their motto is seen in the growth which this store has enjoyed. The first owners of the store were H. Ernest Nelson and Harold Har-old Miles, with Mr. Nelson as manager, which position he held until the time of his death in February Feb-ruary 1931. Following this, Mr. Miles assumed the managership which he now has. 'Since the death of her husband, Ernest Nelson, Nel-son, Mrs. Famie Nelson has'taken an active part in the store work. Considerable credit for the .growth in business and service that the O.K. Market has been able to render its customers is given by Mr. Miles to the stores association with the Independent Grocer's association which was sponsored by the Utah Wholesale Grocers of Salt Lake City in May 1933. The building which the store will occupy was built under the supervision of C. A. Kemp, architect archi-tect and builder. It is new and modern in every respect and will have two new refrigerator meat boxes, also two new refrigerator counters built with the latest ideas of refrigeration for preserving preserv-ing meats and foods under the most sanitary conditions. The latest la-test ideas in grocery service and display are to be used in connection connec-tion with an open front. Steam heat will be used for heatine pur poses. The store is well lighted and has a special type of roof. It is large and well ventilated throughout and has a full cement basement underneath for storage purposes. The whole object of the arrangement has been to better serve the customers of the store. Mr. Miles said. The building will be occupied on Monday, January 20 but the grand opening date will be set later. Saturday's trade will be taken care of in the present location, loca-tion, Mr. Miles announced. |
