Show HEWS OF THE COUNTY SEAT ' Miss Velnia Madsen is home from Salt Lake City where she is studying at the L.D.S. Business college. While here she is doing work at the local court house for President Fox of the L.D.S. Business college. Editor and Mrs. Edgar R. Simpson and son, Richard Edgar, returned Wednesday from spending spend-ing Christmas week with relatives in Los Angeles and Pasadena. Mrs. Spencer Snow and baby boy, and Mrs. Lindau Foremaster -and infant son, were released from the McGregor hospital on December 23. Eldon Reid, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Reid, came Friday from Kansas City to visit with his parents until January 2. Mr. and Mrs. Orval Hafen and son returned Tuesday from Provo where they enjoyed Christmas with Mrs. Hafen's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Clark. Mrs. Arvel Milne and children accompanied her father, W. O. Bentley on his return from a business trip to Salt Lake last Wednesday. They were joined by Mr. Milne on Saturday and will remain until January 2. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Heaton and family were St. George visitors from Moccasin Wednesday. Wednes-day. -Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Empey of Las Vegas were Tuesday dinner guests at the home of their mother, Mrs. Kate B. Empey. Miss Shirley Webb returned to Las Vegas with them Tuesday evening to stay over the New Year. Mr. and Mrs. James Ott of Henfyville visited St. George relatives rela-tives Wednesday, enroute to San Bernardino to see their children. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Littlefield and to do research work in the Los Angeles library of genealogy. Mrs. Nora Vandemore of Ogden is a holiday guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Eyeman. She is the mother of Mrs. Eye-man. Eye-man. Wesley Atkin came home from Los Angeles to visit with his family over the holiday week. I Mi's. Moroni McArthur was treated at the McGregor hospital last Thursday and Friday for a dislocated shoulder sustained in a fall She is reported improving. Mr. and Mrs. K. John Roundy came in from Farmington, N. M. to spend part of their holiday vacation with Mrs. Roundy's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Jos. J. Milne. Before returning they will also visit with Mr. Roundy's parents in Tremonton, Utah. Robert Blackburn of the Leeds CCC camp received medical treatment treat-ment for injuries sustained in a car accident December 24. Miss Margaret Little returned late Tuesday from spending the Christmas week-end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Swapp in Enterprise. Mrs. Grant Gardner of Mt. Car- mel underwent surgery at the local hospital December 26. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Lamoreaux and daughter, Joette, were holiday holi-day visitors from Beaver at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jos. J. Milne. Mrs. Annie M. Webb and son, Dean, spent Saturday over Tuesday Tues-day with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Whipple Whip-ple of Las Vegas. They attended the Catholic High Mass Saturday night and the L.D.S. church programs pro-grams held Sunday morning and evening. Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Brooks and little daughter gave their Parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Brooks and Mr. and Mrs. Harold . Miles a surprise Christmas visit. Mr. Brooks returned to Provo Monday. Mrs. Brooks and baby will stay until Saturday. Oliver Stratton, who has been home from the "Y" for the holi- 1 days, plans to return to Provo ' 'his week-end. Mr. and Mrs. LaRue Weech ' were here Saturday over Monday, guests of Mr. and Mrs. Laurel Leavitt. Mrs. Weech and Mrs. Leavitt are sisters. Miss Leone Holt returned to her employment at Ogden Monday Mon-day evening, after spending the Christmas week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Holt and family. Mrs. Eva Higbee took the midnight mid-night bus last Friday for Denver, to spend the Christmas holidays with her son, LaMond Higbee, who is employed there. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Johnson and small son of Los Angeles spent the past week here at the home of their mother, Mrs. Annie C. Johnson. Antone Moody motored to Mt. Pleasant and return last week-end to bring Mr. and Mrs. June Moody home for the Christmas holidays. Leland Brooks will leave Saturday Satur-day for a brief visit in Provo and Salt Lake before returning to his school teaching in Bunkerville. His sister, Emily Brooks, will accompany ac-company him as far as Provo, where she is enrolled at the "Y". Dudley Leavitt was a St. George visitor from Boulder City Thursday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Brooks. Mr. and Mrs. O. S. Taylor of this city received announcement recently of the birth of a daughter to their children, Dr. and Mrs. P. G. Taylor of San Francisco. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Huntsman and family left Friday for Las Vegas to spend a week with Mr. Huntsman's parents and other relatives. Mrs. Philena Pickett returned to Hurricane Saturday with her daughter, Mrs. Alvin Hall to spend Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Cottam had as their guests over Sunday and Monday their son, Alma H. Cottam, Cot-tam, home from Chicago, Dr. and Mrs. G. B. Orton of Springville, and Miss Naoma Melville of Salt Lake City. The group spent Sunday Sun-day viewing Boulder Dam. Calvin Cottam accompanied them. Dr. Wendell Robinson of Los Angeles left Tuesday for his home after spending the week-end with friends in St. George, a guest at the home of Mrs. Minnie Ahl-strom. Ahl-strom. Miss Fern Starr is home from the U.S.A.C. at Logan for the mid-winter vacation. She arrived last Thursday. i Mrs. Gottlieb Schmutz of New Harmony, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Ben E. Job of Witchita, Kan. stopped over in St. George at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schmutz Monday, enroute home from a three week's coast trip. They visited in San Francisco Fran-cisco with Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Hall. Both Mrs. Job and Mrs. Hall are daughters of Mrs. Schmutz. Mr. and Mrs. Calvert Whitehead White-head were Christmas week-end. visitors of their father, Wm. A. Whitehead, returning home Tuesday Tues-day to Salt Lake City. Miss La-Verd La-Verd Whitehead is also home for two weeks from the U.S.A.C. at Logan. Miss Gertrude Frehnor returned Monday night from spending Christmas with her family at Littlefield. S Mr and Mrs. Cecil Gates and their friends. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Garbett were week-end guests of Mrs. Gates' father. II. Val Hafen and daughters, Helen and Ra-mona. Ra-mona. They returned to Los Angeles Monday evening. " t Miss Evelyn Guerrero was home from Los Angeles over Christmas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Guerrero. Mr and Itf. DeWayne Leavitt and children were here from Cfcrp. Nev. visiting relatives over Sunday and Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Jones and children and Mr. and Mrs. Mrs. Myron Jones came in from Pioche to spend Christmas with relatives. Mrs. Bill Lamb left Sunday to visit several days with her children, chil-dren, Mr. and Mrs. Gar Andrus and son, Tommy, and other relatives rela-tives in Salt Lake City. Miss Leda Heaton, stenographer of the Boulder Dam Power Co., was home from Overton, Nev. from Saturday until Tuesday. Dean Boyak was a St. George visitor from Delta for the holiday season. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Davis arrived ar-rived Saturday from Reno to visit until after the New Year with Mrs. Roxey Romney and daughter, Wanda. Dr. and Mrs. Frank Petty and children of Cedar City were St. George visitors Sunday evening at the home of their mother, Mrs. Rachel Cottam. Mrs. Reba Sorenson and brother, LeGrande Coates, are returning re-turning to their homes at Los Angeles Friday, having been here the past week following the death of their father, B. F. Coates. Mr. and Mrs. Alton Jones and small daughter, of Rockville, and Mr. and Mrs. Karl Larson and Arthur Crosby were Christmas guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur F. Miles. Mr. and Mrs. James Peterson and three children of Cedar Valley Val-ley arrived Saturday to spend the Christmas holidays with relatives. rela-tives. They went to Rockville Christmas day and are spending the fore part of the week there with Mr. and Mrs. Afton Ballard. Bliss S. Jarvis came down from Salt Lake Saturday to visit over 'Christmas with his parents, Mr. 'and. Mrs. B. Jarvis and sister. !Mary. They drove to Littlefield to visit Monday afternoon with the Joseph Frehner family. Miss Marie Seegmiller came down from Provo, and Miss Deola Seegmiller from Ephriam to spend the holiday season with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Seegmiller. Seeg-miller. Miss Virginia Moody is home from Beaver for the Christmas vacation, visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Moody and other relatives. Miss Annie Wells is returning this week to Salt Lake City where she has employment. She has been here for several days on account ac-count of the illness of her mother, Mrs. St. George Wells. |
