Active since boyhood in all church affairs, Mr. Hinton's "step-up" on Sundav gives promise of greater developments along ecceliastical jjnes, is the opinion of his president, presi-dent, Claudius Hirschi and his associate as-sociate counselor, Alvin Engle-stead. Engle-stead. Elders John A. Widtsoe and Albert E. Bowen of the Quorum of the twelve apostles, who represented rep-resented t h e general church authorities at the conference, were accompanied by Mrs. Widtsoe and Mrs. Bowen. Mrs. Bowen, the former well known singer Emma LUcy Gates, sang at both the Sunday afternoon and evening meetings. Conference opened on Saturday night with a general priesthood meeting at which Claudius Hirschi, stake president, presided. A roll call and reports on quorum activities acti-vities were made by Walter Stout, R. D- Adams and others. Elder Bowen, principal speaker at the meeting, urged all members mem-bers of the priesthood to accept their responsibilities. The Sunday morning session which convened at 10 a.m. continued con-tinued with the priesthood theme. Prayers were offered by James Jepson and Harvey A. Jackson 01 UlC SW(C Hirschi, president, welcomed the large congregation assembled and then introduced the following subjects and speakers: "How the Training of the Aaronic Priesthood Priest-hood Applies to Quorum Members", Mem-bers", Morris Wilson; "Stake Missionary Mis-sionary Work and Its Importance", j. Edwin Gubler; "Priesthood Responsibilities", Leo K. Homer; "Responsibility of Aaronic Priesthood", Priest-hood", De Lance Squire. A report was given by Vere Wilson, of the Hurricane North ward, on his recent re-cent mission to the southern states. Speakers at the afternoon session ses-sion were Alvin Englestead, Mrs. Leah D. Widtsoe, Elders Bowen and Widtsoe and brief remarks by President Hirschi. |
