Henry Scholzen seriously injured in-jured when his truck overturned on the highway two weeks ago is reported making steady improvement im-provement in the local hospital It is thought he may soon make complete recovery. Mrs. Dolph Lund (the former Laura Prisbrey) and baby arrived from Needles, Calif., Saturday to visit relatives in St. George and Washington. . Calvin Dalton and son, Winsor returned to Cedar City Tuesday where Mr. Dalton is building a home for Mr. and Mrs. Albert "Kane. Jacob Lee of Virgin is a St. George hospital patient since Aug. 24 for medical treatment. Miss Lena Nelson returned last week from an extended visit with relatives in Nevada and northern Utah. Albert Numbers, CCC enrollee underwent surgery in the local hospital Aug. 27. LaRay Pratt returned Tuesday from Hinckley where he has been for the past month with his parents par-ents while recuperating from an appendectomy. Mrs. Louie W. Wells returned last week from Salt Lake City where she has spent the summer vacation. Mrs. Joseph Baxter of Cedar City was a St. George visitor over the week-end to attend the Foremaster reunion. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Phariss and daughters, Mary Sue and Carol Lee left late Saturday for Los Angeles where they plan to make their home. Mr. Phariss has been linotype operator at the Washington Wash-ington County News for the past three years. Joe Black and Clint Palmer of Blanding were St. George visitors visit-ors over last week-end at the home of Mrs. Ella Washburn. Mrs. Keith Ross was hostess Wednesday- afternoon to Bridge-ettes Bridge-ettes with honors going to Mrs. Carl Hutchings and Mrs. Robert Pickett. Mrs. B. Jarvis took the Monday Mon-day night bus for Salt Lake City on receipt of word Sunday of the birth of a son to Mr. and Mrs. Gene Parsons. Mrs. Parsons was Virginia Jarvis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jarvis. Calvin Cottam returned last Friday evening from spending a month in Springville with Dr. and Mrs. G. B. Orton. Mr. and Mrs. William Penn Barton arrived Monday from Par- agonah to resume their work at the St. George temple. Mrs. Charlotte V. Atkin returned return-ed home Monday from spending the summer with her children in Glendale, Utah. Elizabeth Cottam left Monday morning for Cedar City to visit Miss Rhea Cottam, who is employed em-ployed there. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson A. Snow and small son returned to St. George last Saturday after spending spend-ing several weeks in Provo visiting visit-ing her parents. They will go to Hurricane where they will make their home during the winter. Miss Gussie Johnson of Mes-quite, Mes-quite, Nev., underwent surgery at the local hospital Aug. 27. Mrs. Hajinah Pike, who has spent the past three weeks in Provo visiting relatives and friends, returned on the bus Sunday Sun-day night. Ruth Barber spent Wednesday in Hurricane visiting her father, Frank Barber. Ray Church of Delta has spent the past week here visiting friends. Woodrow Dennett went to Provo on Wednesday, and after spending Thursday and Friday there, returned with his father, Boyd Dennett, who has been attending at-tending summer school at the B. Y. U. Julio Paolasso, chief of the St. George fire department with Clark Blake, Robert Pickett and Clark Empey are attending the Firemen's convention being held at Logan. They are especially interested in-terested in getting the convention here in 1941. They took 2,000 neatly printed invitation folders with them. Mr. and Mrs. John Whipple and Mrs. Whipple's daughter, Miss Evelyn Nelson returned Wednesday Wednes-day from Ely, Nevada where they have spent the summer. They expect ex-pect to make their home in St. George this winter. Mr. and Mrs. Ralston Barber of Kaibab forest were visitors in St. George Wednesday. They are moving to Pine Valley where they will make their home. Mr. and Mrs. Carl N. Savage of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Delbert Stirling and three children of Las Vegas returned home Tuesday after attending the Foremaster reunion. Miss Fern Starr came home Monday from attending the Home Economics conference last week in Brigham City. Miss Theodean Heap of Paro-wan Paro-wan was house guest over Tuesday Tues-day of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Hardy. Miss Heap will return shortly to attend the Dixie college. Mrs. Lovina Allen of Panguitch spent the week-end with relatives returning to her home Tuesday evening to remain two weeks before be-fore moving to St. George to spend the winter with two of her grandchildren who will attend the Dixie college. Mrs. Anne Price, Mrs. Norman Johnson and Miss Mary Nelson spent the . week-end in Salt Lake City on business. Ellis Johnson of the Federal Employment office was a weekend week-end visitor in Salt Lake City. His wife returned with him intending to make their home here. Marian Holt of Enterprise spent the week-end at the home of Grace Foster. All beauty shops will be open all day Thursday, Sept. 5. |
