Show Dixie College News The Future Teachers of America held its monthly meeting Friday afternoon in the Science building. Guest of honor at the meeting was Erlgar M. Jenson, honorary sponsor of the organization. Mr. Jenson talked informally to the group. Music was furnished by Noma Andrus and Elaine Brad-shaw, Brad-shaw, and Marion Woodard gave a reading. Mildred Bentley was in charge. Tryouts for the student body competitive play, "Headed for Eden" will take place Monday under the direction of B. Glen Smith. The high school debating teams will meet the Cedar City teams at Cedar City Friday in a practice prac-tice debate. A second program on the forms of respect due the American Flag was given in assembly Wednesday. It was in the nature of a Professor Profes-sor Quiz program, with the classes competing. The secondary principals and superintendents of Southern Utah were guests of the Dixie college Thursday. Problems in connection with the schools were discussed under the direction of Lorin Miles of Cedar City. Dr. B. K. Farnsworth of the state department depart-ment of education was the principal princi-pal speaker. The group enjoyed a luncheon served by the home economics eco-nomics department, and participated partici-pated in the Fine Arts Festival. The Senior class met last week to make preliminary arrangements for commencement. A permanent program committee was named to work with Mr. Reid and Miss Buggert. The class named Joyce Welker, Oha Russell, Creston Woodard, and DeLance Squire. Jack Rencher has been named chairman of the Junior Prom committee. His assistants will be chosen soon. The high school basketball team won two exhibition games last week end. They defeated the Panaca high school here Friday night, and won from Overton at the latter place Saturday night. The remodeling of the art room has now been completed. The room is now very much in keeping with the beautiful exhibit therein. |
