Show Panaca and Dixie Play Three Over-Time Periods Here Wednesday Panaca nosed out the Dixie Flyers in a triple-overtime game last night on the local floor. Final score gave the Panaca team the victory with an 18-20 margin. To illustrate the evenness of the two squads the score book shows that they were tied at 2-2 at the first quarter; 8-6 for Dixie at the half; 12-12 at the end of the third quarter and 16-all when the gun went off. At the end of the first over-time period the score was 18-18 and at the end of the second over-time, 18-19 for Panaca, however since it takes a two-point margin for a team to be declared the winner in an over-time game, they went another an-other period with Panaca getting get-ting another foul pitch through the hoop to bring them victory. Coach Lee Hafen used all of his men and used the game for the purpose it was intended a practice game. A study of the score indicates that this year's Dixie team is evidently going to be a good defensive team, but they will have to find a scoring punch if they are to go very far. Preliminary Game The Alumni team snowed the college that they might be thru with college basketball, but that they still knew how to play it by taking the college five into camp to the tune of 57-43. Denby Wade and Willard Milne were the big scoring threats for the Alumni making 21 and 20 points respectively. Other men on the team were "Shag" Cook, Louis Pectol, Andrew McArthur, Eugene Eu-gene Bringhurst, Andrew Price and Lee Ronnow. Coach Jay Tolman also used this as a practice game and gave all of his men a chance to see what they could do. |
