Internal revenue receipts re-ceipts for the first nine, months of the present fiscal year fell $217,821.-114 $217,821.-114 short of the total taxes gathered during the same period in the fiscal year 1924. the treasury announced. Total receipts for the first nine months of 1024 were $2,146,803,265, while the same period this year netted net-ted but $1.92S.9S2.150. Although income tax receipts for the period this year were approximately approxi-mately double the returns from miscellaneous mis-cellaneous taxes, the decrease was almost al-most the same. The former decreased decreas-ed $10S.1S9.699 and the latter $109,-631.414. $109,-631.414. Miscellaneous receipts totaled to-taled $629.132,10S. The greatest decrease in income taxes for this year under last year ocucrred in the quarter from January 1 to March 31, a total of $67,000.00. While miscellaneous receipts fell off about $42,000,000 in the same quarter the largest decrease in those receipts came in the July 1 to September 30 quarter, a total of about $55,000,000. New York leads from all sources in 1925 with $488,219,851. or approxi mately one-fourth of the total collected. collect-ed. However, this was about $47,-000,000 $47,-000,000 short of the total for 1924. Income tax receipts in New York fell from $390,000,000 for the 1924 period pe-riod to $358,0000.000 for 1925. while miscellaneous taxes dropped from $145,000 to $129,000. Pennsylvania was second with a total from all sources of $187. 000,000. Illinois was in third place with $151,-000,000. $151,-000,000. Michigan followed with $140,-000,000 $140,-000,000 and Ohio with $106,000,000. Other states were as follows: "California $191,000,000; Maryland, including the District of Columbia, $34,000,000; Massachusetts, $91,000,-New $91,000,-New Jersey, $S1,000,000; Texas, $25,-0000,000 $25,-0000,000 and Virginia $36,000,000. Florida was one of the states showing show-ing an increase in 1925 period over 1924, with $14,030,000 this year against $11,475,000 last year. Florida's larger total was due to an increase from approximately $C,-000.000 $C,-000.000 to $8, 350, 0000 income taxes. Both Virginia and North Carolina showed increased total receipts as a result of large miscellaneous taxes, chiefly on tobacco. |
