Gardner Gard-ner of the Extension and Supervision committee of the St. George district went to Leeds Sunday and completed the organization of the Leeds troop. They were accompanied by Scoutmaster Scoutmas-ter Geo. Thompson and boys from the St. George East and West ward troops. The time of the regular afternoon meeting was turned over to the committee, com-mittee, and a number of short talks were given. Scouts Walter Brooks, Alma Cottam, June Moody, Rulon Everett, Ev-erett, Lloyd McArthur, Bert Baxter, Milton Walker, Elwood Romney, Calvert Cal-vert Andrus, Ellis McAllister, Lorenzo McGregor, Carlyle Thompson and Bliss Jarvis talked on the scout laws and kindred subjects. Short talks were also given by Wayne C. Gardner, B. Glen Smith, Geo. Thompson, R. C. Savage, Joseph Hafen, Edward Mc-Mullin Mc-Mullin and Bishop Sterling. At the close of the regular meeting, papers were filled out for the chartering charter-ing of the troop. R. C. Savage, Dan Fuller and Joseph Hafen were ap pointed troop committeemen; Edward j McMullin was named scoutmaster, j with Lawrence McMullin as his as- I sistant. Ten boys are included in the I original registration. ! The Leeds officers were full of en- ! thusiasm for the new work, and it is expected that- the troop will soon be j one of the top notchers. j Tole Star Troop Celebrates Birthday ! The members of the Pole Star troop, together with their parents and a few invited guests, celebrated the birthday anniversary of the troop last Friday night in the College auditorium. auditori-um. Games were played and refreshments re-freshments were served. The three patrols were responsible for the success suc-cess of the party. The troop committee granted second sec-ond class badges to Leo Terry, Eugene Leany and Donald Bleak; they also awarded first class badges to Calvert ! Andrus and Rufus Pearce. j During the evening the Orion patrol presented Scoutmaster B. Glen Smith !a ruby ring as a token of apprecia-i apprecia-i tion of his work. ! Troop One H:is Outing i Friday afternoon Troop One under Scoutmaster B. Jarvis, Jr.. left for the warm springs at Veyo in the ' troop trucks. Saturday the boys j spent the time in swimming and ! roaming the hills. On the return the boys visited the volcanic cones in Dia-' Dia-' mond valley. ! Court of Honor Saturday " j-fe regular session of the Court of honor', will convene in Room 16 of the '(joilegibuilding Saturday night at eight o'clock. Parents are cordially invited to attend the examinations. New Troop Being Organized ! A new troop is being organized in jthe St. George East Ward. E. B. Snow, Will Whitehead and Woodruff Cannon have been selected as the troop committee. Geo. Thompson has been named as scoutmaster, with John McAllister as assistant scoutmaster. scout-master. Other officers will be named later. The new troop will be known as Troop 2. This is the seventh troop : to be organized in the St. George i district. Eagles Awarded Honors At the Dixie College honor exercises held in the Tabernacle Wednesday, two high school students were presented pre-sented with machinist levels by the 'Boy Scout Court of Honor. These 'awards were made to the boys for being be-ing the first scouts of the Zion National Na-tional Park Council to reach the Eagle Eag-le rank. The presentation was made jby Arthur Paxman. |
