Show 5000 ACRES ARE ADDED j TO BRYCE CANY ON ! Through an agreement reached by H. S. Rutledge, United States district j forester, and E. T. Scoyen, superin- j tendent of Zion National Park, on ! behalf of the United States forest and ; park sen-ices, respectively, the area of i Bryce canyon national monument will be increased to the extent of more ! than 5000 acres. Mr. Scoyen also recommended the inclusion of an additional ad-ditional three sections now in the public pub-lic domain which, if added, would approximately ap-proximately double the area of Bryce canyon monument. j The area now withdrawn as Bryce canyon national monument comprises about 7700 acres. The new lands to be included embrace some very fine scenic features of the district, but the chief purpose in enlarging the area of the monument is to permit most ad- j vantageous trail and highway development develop-ment by the park and forest service. j |
