Show FINE DRY LAND CROPS James L. Holt was here Wednesday from Veyo and showed the editor some Wry fine produce which he had grown n his dry farm at Mountain Meadows. Mead-ows. Two varieties of corn, white and yellow, yielded well, the stalks averages averag-es nine inches in length with 400 to 000 kernals to the cob; the white averaged aver-aged three ears to the stalk, yellow 'wo. Mr. Holt says some ears ran as hn as 800 kernals. Potatoes, nice and clean, averaged four tons to the acrP. He brought to the office two Varieties of watermelon, an oblong op- which was very sweet, was 18 inches in-ches long, the round one eight inches ln d'ameter. Carrots, peas,- and other 8arden vegetables did very well. This ls the first year for these crops and Ule summer has been very dry. |
