To prevent this many auto-ists auto-ists have a secret ignition switch In addition to the regular one, but the auto thief, after first bridging the regular reg-ular switch, notices that there is no discharge on the ammeter, which indicates indi-cates an open circuit, and so he finds the second switch and bridges this one, too. However, the switch and connection connec-tion shown In the drawing will foil the : 6 SECRET SWITCH - r f Vjt 1 1 I BPNO OA"' 1 IS fV ' GftOUHD Secret Ignition Switch Behind Dash Foils Auto Thief. expert thief, as with this arrangement the correct discharge is shown on the ammeter after the regular switch has been bridged, but the coil is grounded so that the car cannot be operated. This is accomplished by mounting an extra switch behind the tlash, of which one side is connected to the frame of the car and the other to the spaA coil by carefully concealed wires.
