Covington of St. George, proprietor 0f the Modern Cleaners and jjveTS, was brought to the hospital tere suffering from four broken ribs and numerous cuts and bruises as the result of an auto collision on the highly high-ly near Pintura Saturday night. Dan Kleinman, of Toquerville, the driver of the other machine which finned in the accident, received a broken bro-ken leg, above the knee, and cuts and bruises, and two young ladies who were in -he machine with him . at the time were injured. The collision occurred about nine-thirty nine-thirty o'clock Saturday night on the highway two miles from Kanarra and about 25 miles from St. George. Covington, driving the Dodge roadster road-ster owned by Jos. W. Prince of St. George, was on his way to Kanarra to get his wife and children who had been visiting there, and bring them back with him to St. George. Dan Kleinman, driving a Jewett sedan, with two young ladies, was on his way to a dance at Hurricane. The cars, being driven at a speed of about 30 miles an hour, collided head on as they topped a slight rise in the road. The impact of the collision completely wrecked the Jewett. The Dodge received re-ceived a badly sprung and twisted frame, a caved in radiator and the steering wheel was snapped off. Word of the accident was immediately immedi-ately sent to Jos. Prince who started out for the scene. Near Harrisburg he met Claude Batty of Toquerville who had picked Covington up and was bringing him to St. George. The injured in-jured man was transferred to Prince's machine and rushed to the hospital ( J here. When found by Batty, Coving-i Coving-i ton, who was the most severely injured in-jured of the four, was endeavoring to aid Kleinman and the two ladies who were in the other car. Dr. J. M. Macfarlane of Cedar City, happened by shortly after the accident acci-dent and took Kleinman and his two companions to the Cedar City hospital here their injuries were attended to. Sunday garage men towed the Dodge to a local garage where repairs will be made. Covington was takoi: from the hos-riiai hos-riiai to his home Wednesday, his con-d con-d "iti! being great' improved. |
