Wesley Pearce returned home Tuesday from Los Angeles, Cal., where he has been studying music for some time. Warren Cox while at Salt Lake secured se-cured the agency for the Star car for the Arrowhead Garage. He brought one down with him and it certainly appears to be a nifty little car. Joseph John and Ada Snow, Shivwits Indians, were married here on the 5th inst. by Elder Karl N. Snow. The bride is a daughter of Jim Snow; the groom a son "John." Mr. and Mrs. iszrsi Thompson arrived ar-rived here Sunday from Logan, where they have been attending the A. C. Mrs. Thompson will teach school at Cedar City this coming term. Miss Verna Orton of Parowan was brought to the local hospital Wednesday Wednes-day in a very critical condition with her heart. A blood transfusion was made and she seems to be doing fairly fair-ly well. Mrs. J. T. Afflick is here from Sacramento, Cal., visiting friends and relatives whom she had not seen for several years, it being 17 years since Dr. and Mrs. Allieck left St. George for California. Mrs. Alice Carter and son Lafayette, Lafay-ette, and daughter, Miss Vera, of Lund, Nev., arrived Tuesday to spend some time here visiting. They were accompanied by Mrs. Harriet Carter, who has been spending the summer there. The people here regret to learn of the loss sustained by J. W. Imlay of Hurricane, the flour mill owned by him at Cedar City being totally destroyed des-troyed by fire last Friday evening. Lightning struck the building and set it afire. Lund of Enterprise Enter-prise were in town yesterday on their way home from Salt Lake City where they had been to attend the Democratic Demo-cratic conventions, market week, the round-up, etc. Mr. Lund will be remembered as a former county commissioner com-missioner of this County. Parowan Times. L. J. Beavers was here from Grapevine Grape-vine spring Monday and reports that his six-year old son James narrowly escaped death by drowning while swimming in the pool there. Arthur Olds of Toquerville missed the boy and on looking for him saw him lying at the bottom of the pool. He was got out and worked with for an hour before he was restored to life. Mr. and Mrs. William S. Cobb and family . returned last Friday from Nixon spring, near Mount Trumbull, where they spent the summer. They intended arriving here Thursday night but were detained by a big flood in the Mokiac wash which prevented pre-vented them crossing. The heavy rain which caused the flood appeared to extend to Mt. Trumbull, says Mr. Cobb. |
