Show Preparation' For Xmas Mail Needed Post offices will make every effort to handle the Christmas mails without congestion and delay, de-lay, but owing to the enormous velume this can be done only with the cooperation of the public. pub-lic. Compliance with the following follow-ing suggestions will greatly aid the Post Office and insure thn prompt handling of your mail. During the holiday time the valume of mail increases approximately approxi-mately 200 per cent. It is physical phy-sical impossibility to handle this great mass of mail matter efficiently effic-iently and promptly within a few days. Therefore to assurj delivery deliv-ery of their Christmas presents, cards, and letters by Christmas Day the public should SHOP AND MAIL EARLY. Do your Christmas shopping so that you can mail your gifts, greetings, and letters to relatives, friends, and loved ones at least a week or 10 days before Christmas, according ac-cording to the distance. This will not only make it certain that they are received before Christmas Christ-mas Day, but will be a great aid to your postal service and to postal pos-tal employees and enable them to spend the Christmas holiday with their families. All parcels must be securely wrapped or packed. Use strong paper and heavy twine. Articles easily broken or crushed crush-ed must be securely wrapped and crated or boxed. Use liberal quantities of excelsior, or like material, in, around, and between the articles and the outside container. con-tainer. Glassware, fragile toys, or crockery must be packed so as to prevent the escape of particles par-ticles or pieces if broken in transit. Parcels containing perishable articles shall be marked "Perishable" "Perish-able" and packed in suitable container, con-tainer, according to contents. Articles Ar-ticles likely to spoil within the time reasonable required for transportation and delivery will not be accepted for mailing. Use special delivery stamps to ex-pediate ex-pediate delivery-Addresses delivery-Addresses should be complete, with house number and name of street, post-office, box, or rural-route rural-route number, and typed or plain- ly written in ink. A return card should be placed in the upper left corner of every piece of mail.
