Show HURRICANE HURRICANE, Jan. 2. Mr. and Mrs. Morris Judd of Predonia were here the fore part of the week visiting Mrs. Judd's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George H. Isom. Mrs. Joel Roundy has been very ill with flu-pneumonia, but is improving im-proving now. Mrs. Berdet Webster of Cedar City spent the week end with her parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Joel Roundy. A shower was given for Miss Beatrice Bea-trice Stanwprth on the evening of December 26. The Fillmore basketball team won from Hurricane on the local floor last Saturday night by a score of 30 to 25. Grace Isom, who has been attending attend-ing school in Salt Lake City is home for the holidays. George Worthen and family of Cedar Ce-dar City were visiting relatives here New Year's day. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Haslem were visiting relatives here a few days the past week. John D. Spendlove of Cedar City was here last week. William Thaddius Ballard, born December De-cember 17, 1893, at Grafton, Utah, died at his home here Saturday, December De-cember 29, after a long and very trying try-ing illness. He was operated on for an ulcerated stomach . and was in the St. George hospital for six weeks and for a time showed some improvement. im-provement. For the past four weeks he has been bedfast and has suffered suf-fered a great deal. He leaves to mourn his passing one daughter, Mrs. Earl Englestead, and a son, Denor Ballard, two brothers, broth-ers, Edward and David, and two grandsons. Funeral services were held in the school auditorium on December 31, under the direction of Bishop Frank Johnson of the north ward. Singing, "Through Deepening Trials." Prayer, Lafayette Hall. Singing, "My Future Home." The speakers were Bishop Brad-shaw, Brad-shaw, Claud Hirschi, George Gibson, Jr., James Stanworth, David Hirschi, James Jepson and Bishop Johnson. Solos were were rendered by Frank Barber and Kate Allen. Singing, "Only a Little While." Prayer, Ira E. Bradshaw. Interment was in the Hurricane cemetery. |
