The well will be started in the Moen-copi Moen-copi formation or lower Triassic. Wallace Blake of this city w-ill take 1 out teams to build the road to the drill I site and make all necessary prepara-j prepara-j tions for taking in the rig. The rig to be brought is a No. 4 California Cal-ifornia and is expected to be loaded oh trucks Oct. 29th at San Bernardino, California. Mr. Scheer, owner of the rig, will come with the trucks and superintend the development work himself. Application has been made to the government to begin drilling and the necessary $5,000 bond has been paid, i O. L. Hyatt has rented a furnished ! dwelling from Wallace Miles and ex-i ex-i pects to reside here permantly while I drilling is in progress. CITIZENS NDIVIINATE ATKIN AGAIN MAYOR A citizens' primary was held here last Saturday night of which Le Roy H. Cox was chairman and Geo. Brooks. Jr., secretary. Mr. Cox read the call, which was signed by the chairmen of the two precinct committees. A motion to nominate one citizens' ticket was made by Jos. T. Atkin and carried. j fc'Jj Henry T. Atkin, the present mayor, and Albert E. Miller were nominated for mayor. Geo. E. Miles was nominated nom-inated for recorder by acclamation. Laura A. Gates for treasurer by acclamation. ac-clamation. Twelve tellers were appointed who reported 118 votes for H. T. Atkin and 118 votes for Albert E. Miller a tie. Albert E. Miller moved that the nomination nom-ination of Henry T. Atkin be made unanimous; seconded and carried. The following nominations for coun-cilmen coun-cilmen were made, seconded and carried: car-ried: Joseph W. Judd, John T. Woodbury, Wood-bury, Mrs. Vivian Woodbury, William O. Bentley, N. J. Wadsworth, John T. Woodbury, Jr., M. W. Andrus, Arthur K. Hafen and H. L. Reid. The count by the tellers showed Joseph Jos-eph W. Judd for the four-year term. Mrs. Vivian W. Woodbury, John T. Woodbury, Jr., and Arthur K. Hafen for two year term. Speeches were made by Mayor Atkin, Mrs. Laura A. Gates and George E. Miles. |
