Show NEW ROUTE IS FOUND FOR MOUNT CARMEL ROAD A route about sixteen miles long has been found for the proposed federal fed-eral aid highway to be built from Mt. Carmel to the eastern edge of Zion National park, it is stated by H. S. Kerr, assistant chief engineer of the state road commission. It has been found advisable to drop the plan of crossing a box canyon, in the hope of getting a summit less than 6000 feet in altitude. The Summit on the route now being located will be about 6200 feet. The road will connect with a highway to- be constructed from the park entrance to the east rim of Zion by the national park service, ser-vice, and the entire route of about seventy-three miles will be highly scenic. For the portion outside the park, leading to the white bridge below be-low Mt. Carmel, on the Grand Canyon Can-yon highway, the cost is estimated roughly at $250,000 to $300,000. The park service will spend as much or more for six or seven miles within the park. Salt Lake Tribune, closer to some people than to others. . 6.
