Show UTAH PROGRAM SETS ROAD CM BUDGET Completion of the highway maintenance main-tenance budget under the first year of luD per cent maintenance by the state road commission was announced announc-ed Thursday. Some $46$. 912. 50 of the surplus which is expected to accrue from the gas-oline and motor vehicle registration registra-tion taxes will be spent in this program pro-gram to cover the 13 month period from Dec. 1, 1925, to Jan . 1, 1927. For maintenance purposes the state roads are divided into six classes depending de-pending on til e type road, and the traffic ii bears as shown by census in 192 5. On these six classes, $5 0, $10ii, $150, $200, $3 00 and $500 per mile will be spent in maintenance in the most comprehensive program yet undertaken. Advances Month The new program advances the taking tak-ing over of the burden of maintenance by one month and the counties will now be relieved of the burden December Decem-ber 1, instead of January 1. Machinery for the maintenance programs has not been definitely set up as yet though it is understood that the plans contemplate dividing the state into five districts and placing the work in each under a competent engineer. In the following recapitulation showing how the budget is distributed distribut-ed the allowances to the various roads is per mile of distance. Starting at the north on the Zion National Park-Arrowhead trail the state program contemplates spending $100 per mile on the Portage connection connec-tion with Idaho as far south as Garland, Gar-land, $200 from Garland to Brigham City, $300 to Ogden. On the Cache valley connection $300 per mile from Franklin south through Logan tc Ogden with $100 on the branch from Richmond to Lewis and $150 to Bear Lake. From Ogden south $500 per mile will be spent through Salt Lake and south to Sandy, $200 from Sandy to Provo, $300 from Provo to the Juab county line and $200 for the 200 miles south to Anderson's ranch where the road divides, one branch going into Zion National park and the other to St., Geqrge. The budget allows al-lows $150 from Anderson's ranch to St. George and $100 per mile from St. George to the Arizona line. Maintains Roads With this main truck line the state will maintain the roads to- the west spending $150 per mile on the Ogden-Hooper Ogden-Hooper loop, $500 on the road from Salt Lake to Magna, $300 from Magna Mag-na to the Mills in Tooele county, $200 from Mills to Knolls, $300 from Knolls to Wendover with a branch road to St. Johns bearing $200 per mile from Mills to- Tooele and $100 from Tooele to St. Johns. The Eureka-Holden-Santaquin loop will be maintained as on this road the state plans to spend $300 per mile from Santaquain to Eureka, $200 on Eureka-Silver City, $150 for the Eureka-niillard county line, $100 from Juab line to Delta, $150 on Delta-Holden. The Beaver Milford road will receive $100 per mile with $50 per mile for the Ivlilford-New-house extension. The Parowan-Lund -Cedar loop gets $50 from Parowan to Lund and $150 from Wye junction to Cedar City. The St. George-Enterprise road gets $100 and the Enter-prise-Modena, $50. Turning to- the road through the central tier of counties the state would spend $150 on the Arizona-Glendale, $50 on the Rand-Gravel Spring Junction, Junc-tion, $150 on the Gravel Spring Junction Junc-tion to Sevier on the junction with the Sevier-Cove Fort road $200 from Sevier to Fairview and $100 to This- tie where it joins the Grand Central road. Connecting Roads On the connecting roads between the liryce-Grand Canyon and the Ziun-Arrowhc-ad roads $2VU would be spent on the Anderson's-Tociuerville link. $150 on the Toquer-Zion Park and $100 on the Rockville-S hort Creek. The road to Cedar Breaks would get $150 from Gravel Springs Junction to Cedar City. Some $50 per mile is allotted the Faragooiiah-Orton, Faragooiiah-Orton, $50 on the road from Heaver City to the summit up Beaver Creek, $130 on the Sevier-Cove Fort. $200 011 Levan-Gunnison. $200 on the Nephi-Pigeon Hollow and $100 on the Spring City to Chester link. The liiilside-Bryce road would get $150 per mile, the Junction-Widtsoe $100, the Widtsoe-Escalante $50, the Sigurd to the forest project $150 with $100 on the Fish Lake stretch and $100 on the road leading into Wayne county as far as Torrey. Salina Canyon The Salina canyon connection with Price would be alloted $150 per mile for the entire distance, the Ephraim-Castledale Ephraim-Castledale $50, the Fairview-Emery County line $100, and the road up Hutington canyon $50. From Springville the road up Spanish Fork canyon takes $200 and continues as far as Castlegate, $300 from Castlegate to Price, $150 Price to Emery line, $lu0 Emery line te Valley City, $150 to Thompsons. $100 to the Colorado line. With this road the Monticello route gets $150 from Valley City to LaSal, $200 La-Sal La-Sal to the end of the finished road, $50 for the balance of the road to Monticello and Lockerby. Roads into the Uinta basin are tc-be tc-be cared for with $200 on the Castle-gate-Duchesne connection and $150 on the more direct line through the basin from the Colorado line over the Strawberry summit to Heber with the exception of the Vernal paving which gets $300. Provo canyon gets $200 both on Orem and the Provo bench connections connec-tions this allottment continuing to Heber and thence to Park City. From Park City to Kimball's $300 is allowed with $500 for the road down Parley's canyon. Kimball to Wan ship gets $300 and the road from Wanship to Kamas thence back, to Heber $150 with $100 on the Stock-more Stock-more connection over the Provo river divide. Down the Weber drainage $300 is allowed Wanship tc Coalville, $100 Coalville to Echo, $200, Echo to Ogden, -$300 to Brinville up Echo canyon, $100 to Wasatch and $200 to Wyoming on the Evanston route. Ogden canyon gets $300 for the paved pav-ed part and $100 for the balance of the road. From Evanston entering the state north to Woodruff $200 is allowed and $100 from Woodruff to Sage Creek junction, $50 to- the Wyoming state line and $50 to Garden Gar-den City.
