Show REPUBLICANS SELECT OGDEN FOR MEET Ogden was chosen at the Republican state nominating convention city and August 16 as the date of the meeting by the Republican state committee on Thursday afternoon. Delegates will be selected on a basis of one for each one hundred votes cast for Senator Reed Smoot two years ago, making a representation of 881. The vote for Senator Smoot was 88,101. The apportionment as announced by Chairman Marcusen follows : Beaver, 9; Boxelder, 31; Cache, 54; Carbon, 23; Daggett, 1; Davis, 25; Duchesne, 16; Emery, 12; Garfield, 9; Grand, 3; Iron, 14; Juab, 13; Weber, 93; Kane, 5; Millard, 21; Morgan, 6; Piute,' 4; Rich, 4; "Salt Lake, 322; San Juan, 5; Sanpete, 34; Uintah, 15; Utah, 76; Wasatch, 12; Washington, 15, and Wayne, 3. In accordance with a resolution adopted in April at a meeting of the state committee, various sub-committees were named by Chairman Marcusen Marcu-sen to gather information for use in the preparation of the party's platform plat-form when the state convention meets. In each commitee, Mr. Marcusen explained, ex-plained, there is a state senator and a member of the lower house at the last session of the legislature, a member of the state committee and a citizen who has studied the subject to be taken up by he group of which he will be a part. |
