Show STOCKGROWERS I BANK CLOSED DOORS TODAY The Dixie Stockgrowers Bank failed to open for business this morning on orders received from the state bank examiner last night. Negotiations for a consolidation of the banks here have been under way for some time but these evidently evi-dently failed, even though the directors di-rectors of the Stockgrowers were practically assured that a deal j would be consummated. The sit- ' uation was to be stabilized with the help of the Bcnk of St. George, and banks at Parowan, Hurricane and Cedar City. Officers of the bank are as much in the dark as anyone else as to the reason for the sudden decision to close the bank. Yesterday it was the general opinion that the difficulty dif-ficulty would be overcame. Information from inside sources and assurance of the board of directors di-rectors is to the effect that there is no cause for alarm among the depositors of the bank. There is ampie security to pay 100 cents on the dollar, though this of course will take time. An official of the state banking department will arrive here today or tomorrow to take charge, and until he comes no further information infor-mation is available. |
