Church During Two-Days Sessions Reorganization of the St. George East ward bishopric was one of the principal features of the L. D. S. church quarterly conference held here Saturday and Sunday. The two-day sessions ses-sions were characterized by priesthood sessions, with Bishop David A. Smith of Salt Lake City representing the general authorities. auth-orities. Arthur K. Hafen was ordained bishop of the East ward, to be assisted by Arthur Cottam and Eric Snow, counselors. Dr. W. J. Reichnvann, former bishop, was released due to the fact that he moved out of the ward. His retirement will become effective January 1. The change was proposed pro-posed by Stake President W. O: Bentley at the request of Dr. Rcichmann, and the new officials were unanimously sustained by East ward members present at the sessions. All addresses and sermons were on priesthood subjects. Talks Saturday Sat-urday night were given by President Presi-dent Orval Hafen, President W. W. McArthur, Kenneth Cannon, Ellis Everett and Bishop Smith. Four hundred persons, or 11 .per cent , of tbe iake membership were present. In the Sunday morning session sermons were delivered by Pres W. O. Bentley, Miss Linna Snow, Israel Neilson, Jr., Floyd Atkin, Wilford Cannon, Wayne Robert- son, Durward Terry and Bishop Smith. Five hundred fifty persons per-sons were present. The names of the general church and stake authorities were presented at the beginning of the afternoon session, and sustained sus-tained by a unanimous vote of the assembly. Sermons were delivered de-livered by Dr. Reichmann, Lee Hafen, B. Jarvis, Jr., John T. Woodbury, Jr., and Bishop Smith. Seven hundred ninety-four ninety-four persons, or IS per cent of stake membership, was present. In the evening session, talks were given by Dr. J. Wm. Harrison Har-rison on the proper use of leisure lei-sure time, and by Bishop Smith on the Word of Wisdom. Boy Scout advancements were made as follows: First class rank Howard Schmutz, troop 401; Floyd Atkin, At-kin, 403.
