Economy In building is no small consideration, especially when economycan econ-omycan be attained with careful planning without sacrificing any of the conveniences and features which are coming to be recognized as the hall marks of the modern home. . Such a home is the one presented In the accompanying illustration and floor plans. Full advantage is taken of the economies and convenient room arrangement possible with the square type of home, but at the same time through careful attention to the exterior, ex-terior, the home avoids that monotony of appearance which long was the drawback to homes of this type. The stucco finish, which may be applied ap-plied on metal lath, hollow tile or concrete con-crete blocks, Is fitted admirably for the slmpln, yet distinctive lines of this home. The windows and doorway of the front elevation are well balanced without monotony. And the entry, with its distinctive stonework and the carved door, is one which may well arouse the pride of any householder. The floor plans have the simplicity of efficiency. The hall gives access both to the stairway to the second floor and to the large living room with Its inviting fireplace. Ample lighting Insures that this room will be light and cheery in all sorts of weatlier. The dining room, opening from the living room, is of adequate size and conveniently arranged In relation to the kitchen, which Is arranged for the convenience of the housewife. Tha porch, which can be reached both from the dining room and the living room is especially worthy of note because be-cause of its privacy and the manier in which It is shielded from the street. The arrangement of the bedrooms on the second floor is particularly good. All three have cross ventilation ventila-tion and are planned with adequate closet space. The largest one has its private bath, while another bath room opening off the hall between the other two rooms provides for their needs. The efficiency of these floor plans is worthy of study. |
