Show FUTURE FARMERS PUBLIC SPEAKING FRIDAYJUNE 16 The Western Regional (eleven western states) public speaking contest for Future Farmers of America will take place Friday evening. June 16 at 7:30 P. M. in the ball room of the Newhouse hotel. Immediately after the contest is over, the winner will deliver his oration over station KSL. This will be at 10 P. M. Music tor the contest will be furnished by the Springville chapter and old juniper chapters of F. F. A. In the southern Utah district Raymond Malouf of the Richfield high school was winner over the contestants from the Parowan, Delta, and Hurricane chapters, and was later successful in winning win-ning the state title. Mr. Malouf is a typical member mem-ber of the nation-wide organization organiza-tion of boys who are studying agriculture in high schools and who call themselves "Future Farmers of America." Keen interest in-terest is being shown in this event, as the winner ot Friday night's contest will go to Kansas City to compete in the National contest. Mr. Malouf chose as his topic. "The American Farmer Down but Not Out." His material is excellent excel-lent and he delivers it in a forceful force-ful and convincing manner. The hopes ot every F. F. A. boy in Utah are with Mr. Malouf in this contest. The members of the Hurricane F. F. A. are beginning to make plans for the coming exhibits on Peach Day. Many of the members mem-bers are contemplating growing sugar beet seed as a project tor next year. Nearly fifteen acres of beet seed has been grown by these boys this year, and with one exception are the best beets in the locality. Pr. Warren of Cornell University Univer-sity probably the most outstanding outstand-ing authority on farm management manage-ment in America, will teach a course in farm management to the agriculture teachers ot Utah. Mr. Elmer A. Graff, the Smith-Hughes Smith-Hughes instructor at Hurricane higU school d.nd advisor of the Hurricane F. F.
