Show DixieCoilege to be Taken OverbyState Arrangements have been completed com-pleted by the L. D. S. church to transfer Dixie Normal college to the state, to become part of the state's Junior college system. A. W. Ivins, first counselor in the first presidency of the church, said Thursday night. Mr. Ivins completed arrangements last week-end, when he visited St. George. Mr. Ivins stated that the church is now prepared to transfer trans-fer the property of the norma! college to the state in compliance with the Junior college law. which calls for the conveyance of the college property without cost to the state. In addition. Mr. Ivins said, the college may be operated without cost to the state for the next biennium. through cooperation of the L. D. S. church and the citi-j zens of Washington county. An appropriation sufficient to maintain main-tain the school for one year has been made by the church, the official of-ficial said, and the people of St. George have agreed to raise funds to operate the school for the remaining re-maining year of the biennium. |
