Show WAR ON CHINCH BUG CONTINUES The farmers of Washington County have collected gallons of Chinch bugs during the past week. These insects swarm in j great, masses on the heads ot su- gar beet seed and during the ear-j ly hours of the morning they are readily shaken into traps containing contain-ing kerosine and water. This work is followed up with dusting and spraying the bugs that fall on the ground. The problem is still rather serious, ser-ious, these insects multiply very rapidly" under favorable condition's condi-tion's and if not destroyed now they may give trouble to the seedlings of this fall crop. The seed growers are all aware of the situation and inspect their fields daily. Meetings have been held and farm visits made to instruct farmers on the importance of control measures. |
