Show DAM MEETS OPPOSITION Arizona Takes Case to Supreme Court While Wyoming Seeks to Withdraw from Compact With Senator Reed Smoot and Governor Gov-ernor George H. Dern of Utah sounding sound-ing a warning to the legislature of this state to avoid rushing into the six-state pact, the withdrawal of Wyoming's Wy-oming's ratification is advocated and Arizona will appeal to the supreme court in its efforts to block the construction con-struction of the dam, according to the following press dispatches: CHEYENNE. Withdrawal of Wyoming's Wy-oming's ratification of the six or seven-state Colorado river compact may shortly be advocated in the state legislature leg-islature as a means of compelling an adequate protection of Wyoming's water wa-ter rights. PHJOENIX. The Arizona Colorado river commission has authorized the filing of a suit in the United States supreme court to prevent the enactment enact-ment of the Boulder dam project and the construction of the Black Canyon dam, it was announced by the chairman chair-man of the commission. The commission authorized the employment em-ployment -of -eminent counsel. "The chairman said that prompt steps would be taken to file the suit at once. The action is regarded as a climax to Arizona's long-standing opposition to the construction of the dam as provided in the Swing-Johnson bill, which was passed by congress and signed by President Coolidge. |
