TAXING BODIES WILL DISCUSS BANK VALUES At a meeting of the city council last Saturday a committee was appointed to meet with the county commissioners commission-ers and the school board to discuss the taxing system with regard to banks. Bankers all over the state are taking up the matter with the county commissioners com-missioners in the effort to adjust the matter. The bankers In state conventions have discussed the alleged inequality of their assessment for a number of years, but not until this year did they take any definite action. At their last convention, however, they decided upon up-on a course of action and the association associa-tion of the state has retained a prominent promi-nent law firmi of Salt Lake to represent repre-sent them). Last week in Iron county the' bank-' ers met with the commissioners and offered a compromise settlement, and intimated that if this were not accepted accept-ed by the county suit would immediately immedi-ately follow to enjoin the county from collecting the tax. , ' |
