After deducting the average reported report-ed value of family labor, amounting to $161, from the net farm income, the income from capital and operator labor la-bor was $327. Allowing interest on the investment at 5 per cent, the operator had remaining as a labor and management manage-ment wage a minus $7. To supplement the farm income 74 per cent of the farmers in the survey had some income other than the farm. This item, which averages $415 per farmer, added to the net farm income in-come of $488, gave an average total income in-come for the farmer of $903. This figure fig-ure represents the income from the capital invested, operator and family labor, and the income earned away from the farm.
