Show t T I I LL i 1 i t r CHARTER MEMBER Edith l L Cooper left was hon hon- honored ored Thursday evening of last week at the Vernal Bus Bus- Business Business iness and Professional Womans Woman's Club Anniversary dinner Ethel Bowden right was a speaker She has been a member of the club for 18 years and Is on the membership committee Staff photo Charter Charier Member Honored At AI Anniversary The Vernal Vernal- Business and Pro Wom Women's ns n's Club cele its anniversary at atthe atthe the Commercial Restaurant Thursday of last week LaVon Wall chairman of the member ship committee and co chair men Ethel Reva Work man and Myrtle Nealson pre pre pre- presented the program ETHEL Bowden was the first speaker She chose as her topic History of the Vernal Club She noted th the club was organized February 19 1925 with eight members The first meeting was held at the of Tice fice of Attorney Thomas ODonnell O'Donnell who was Edith Law rence Coopers Cooper's employer During the evening Mrs Cooper was honored as being the only charter member left Mrs Cooper is still practicing at 33 13 East Main Other charter members were Sarah M Lo Lo- Logan gan Ethel M Martin Violet Harrison Ruth Bennion Edith Johnson Louise Jorgensen and nd Effie Young The The Vernal club was the ninth to join the state Federation PEARL SHAFFER a memo mem- member ber for 40 years gave a talk on What Means to toMe toMe Me Miss Shaffer said the Golden Circle of J Friend ship the club emblEm has meant a great deal to her She said the organization I has given given en her many to meet women from the state level as well as international level that she would not have had the opportunity to meet elsewhere Miss Shaffer noted the ob- ob objectives ob of the club w were re to help us to become better cit better neighbors and better friends The two most important clubs in her life are the American Legion Auxiliary and stated Miss Shaffer MYRTLE NEALSON gave a talk on the History of the Club Collect written by Mary Stewart at a very young age and before she became a memo mem ber of The Federation later adopted this prayer as their collect Polly Adams second vice president was narrator of the emblem initiation ceremony which Initiated ted three new memo mem hers bers into the club New memo mem bers initiated were LaRena Abplanalp secretary at the Carlisle Chev Company Bev Bev- Bev Beverly erly Stone clerk at Ashton Brothers and Iona Williams clerk at the Garden Gate Flor al al others participating in the ceremony were Donna Lee Winona Odle Marion A Behun Behun- Behunin In Amy Lube and Mary etta eUa Wardle TABLE decorations were car car- carried ried out in the anniversary theme A three tiered cake of gold and green complimented the head table On each side of the cake w was a scroll and gold candles were placed in the th cen cen- cen center ter of the other table with the niki emblem on each side A small mall niki was pl placed ced at each persons person's place set in gold or green gum drops Amy Lube first vice dent opened the dinner meet meet- meeting ing as President Linda P was on on the sick list Mrs Lube announced that the business meeting will be held at atthe atthe the courthouse March 7 WINONA ODLE chairman of World Affairs announced that during this business meeting each work on their record cards for the perman- perman permanent permanent ent file Other members to serve on the World Affairs committee are Hilda Faulkner and Stella Workman Present were 19 members and three guests Iva Iv Wilson Gladys Phillips and Iola Schlegel |
