Show Rites Held for Vernal Doctor Sunday at S SL L L Dr H E Rich Founder of Basin Medical SocIety And Senior Practicing of Basin Paid Final Respects A large crowd attended the fun fun- funeral fun funeral eral services of ot Dr Homer ERich E Rich at the Larken Funeral Home in inI Salt Lake at Z 2 00 p m Sunday Among the speakers was Elder George Albert Smith State oUt oUt- officers officers cers of the American Legion from Post Pool No 2 had charge of the buri burl burial al ritual with a firing squad from Fort Douglas Interment was In the Wasatch Lawn cemetery by the side of his mother and father Dr Rich passed away alone in his office presumably about 8 00 a m in Thursday morning His body as found by the attendant about one hour later Dr Homer Erastus Rich was born at Ogden August 15 1886 the son of the late Ben ERich E Rich Richand Richand and Diana Dlana Fair Farr Rich After his public school days davs da s In Ogden and andIn andIn andin I In Idaho Dr Rich graduated from the Rush Medical College at Chi Chicago cago Ill III After he came canie to Ashley Valley 25 years ago to become one of the state states s a foremost practitioners On his fiftieth birthday anni- anni anni anniversary ersary last August Dr Rich also celebrated his quarter of a century as a practicing ph physician by by send sending nd ing invitations to the living of the 1500 babies he had helped to bring into the world Over Oer respond respond- responded ed at the afternoon matinee at Does Docs Beach and many more snore at night Dr Rich was the first Scout Scout- Scoutmaster Scoutmaster Scoutmaster master in the Ashley Valley He aided In many ways the Scout movement He helped promote the first mo movements for commercial clubs game organizations and other civic bodies The Witbeck Post No 11 was his idea and he served as the first post commander La Later Latier ho he and Mrs Rich were officers of the state Legion and Auxiliary organ organizations organizations He took great pride in helping to get funds for Vernal s Doughboy Monument Anything of a recreational na- na nature na nature ture took his fancy such as school athletics cross country runs has has- bas basketball tennis and others In his practice with horse and buggy as asa asa asa a conveyance and later with auto auto- automobiles automobiles mobiles every call can a hurr call and seldom did he ever turn one down He married Ethel Watkins on June 12 1912 who with a daugh daugh- daughter ter tar Rich survives him Dr Rich Is also survived by four brothers Benjamin L Fred and Frank C Rich Salt Lake City and Dr L F Rich Rexburg Idaho and two sisters Mrs A V Vat Wat- Watkins Wat-kins Wat kins Provo and Mrs A C 0 Strong of Salt Lake 1 I I I I I |
