Show COUNTY SCHOOLS TO OPEN SEPT 8 AFTER TEACHERS INSTITUTE ghere are still several vacancies in the teaching corps of the county four teachers tea chera have resigned because ot ol illness tile tho other openings are duo due to the low salaries of teachers as compared with other classes of professional people hence there is a sc scarcity arelt of teachers tea chera throughout the count state and nation last week it was reported at the he superintendents dents 8 convention in salt lake city that there were nere teachers still needed to fill 1111 the schools and nearly all of them aro am in the rural sections to meet this situation the state board has arranged arran sed to permit high school graduates to teach during the ensuing ear all county schools will open sept ath an attempt will be made to make up for much of the lost work that resulted from influenza supervised study and health work will bo be emphasized the supervisors and many teachers have been lo in attendance at summer a 9 in various sections therefore enthusiasm and new ideas will help the progress of the schools this year teachers institute will bo be held at vernal sept lot 2nd and urd and ath the nex state superintendent ot of Beh schools G N child hag hae been invited to attend on oil the 3rd ard and ath tho the health program part time education and aid supervised study will be the major topics for discussion the board of education decided to continue the clean school contest this par ear it will fit in very nicely with the he health program as well as with the civics work the university of utah Is offer ing free to uintah county scholarships to six students who desire to take the normal work at the university applications must be made through the county superintendent teachers examinations for third and second grade certificates will be held at vernal august 29 and 30 at the state convention ot of superintendents ten dents the enforcement ot of the now new educational laws were considered it la Is going to be somewhat difficult to carry out fully all the provIs provisions lons of the laws but districts are urged to do so as nearly as possible every boy and every girl between the ages of 14 and IS 18 years inclusive are required bv b law to attend school thirty weeks during the school year un less they have completed a full four year high school course or unless they are excused by the county superintendent in of schools to enter some kind of necessary employment then they must attend school on the employers pl ers ti time rne for hours during the school year all between these ages are required to register at the school on a date to be set later and make inake arrangements to comply with the new law |
