Show novelty is lamp shade dress ii X az X jj i V 0 1 I 1 0 0 7 tho the odd and novel ideas introduced AMONG trod in styles by last tall fall a few survived their introduction among them the minaret dress of which an example is shown here A narrow skirt under a wired tunic which extends about to the knee characterizes acte this mode americans americana called it the lamp shade syle style which title alts very well and explains more than minaret tho the tunic or overdress wired at the bottom to hold it away from the figure Is usually of transparent or semitransparent material chiffon or lace for or example the magnificent beaded and embroidered nets for very elaborate dresses have been much liked aked dut but for the ordinary evening gown of at crepe satin char meuse and other light fabrics the tunic la is of the same material as tho the skirt and the bodice Is made of laco lace combined with soma of the material in the skirt in the gorgeous gown pictured here an extreme of the style the bodice is hardly more than a broad sash of 0 laco lace wrapped about the figure and tied ina in a big butterfly bow at tho the back A narrower scarf of lace passes over the shoulders and supports the sash bash there Is a small embroidered panel of beaded net finished with three large tassels cassels at the middle front of the bodice supported by invisible wires probably about the edge these largo tassels cassels are featured this season another one of the successful ideas of the designer this tha bodice Is not to bo be consIder considered ej as an example of the usual bodice worn with the minaret gown it shows the extreme which one may expect in some stage gowns the sash made of 0 a scarf of lace Is an excellent idea but the lack of any other draping over tho the shoulders than a crisp of light lace makes the bodice impossible for americans they have used these sashes in tulle and lace with the big bows at the back sparingly and never without other dra drapery perk the features embodied in this gown have been repeated and developed in other ways very successfully successful fy skirts skirt of moire with tunics of chiffon edged with mar or fur are very successful cess coss ful also skirts of satin or crepe dechine de chine with chiffon tunics and soft lace bodies with draping and over sleeves of chiffon ure are beautiful and e effective velvet dresses repeat the idea employing the velvet tor for the lower part of the skirt arid and silk for the upper part bodies of at chiffon over silk and net are in the same color as the skirt with glimps guimps and under sleeves of white lace the head dress worn with the costume pictured la Is one of the prettiest which has appeared among the very elaborate styles introduced early it Is less pretentious than many de signel for the opera and it appears among others that have bave been successful in bidding for favor JULIA BOTTOMLEY BOTTOM LEY |
