Show williaa irwia irvin a s ca citizen on of lake town tom passes away EDITOR JOURNAL JoUR NAt elder willism william irwin died at the residence of N II al hodges lake town rich kich county atah utah on friday mOrDi morning Dg july 19 1895 at ar and was buried on saturday at 5 p ro lie ile went to Ale meadow adoli ville on sunday july as a foi to home missionary N al hodges with elder S W V after preaching quits quite a lengthy dis discourse c ourse in which he bore strong testimony of the gopel and of his experiences in the church the people noticed a peculiarity nty rity of speech toward the close of his remarks lie ile seemed to lofbel feel quite buncom foi fai table on his homeward tri trip p an and d when v lien he be got to town ho be said he would prefer to walk and did walk up tip to the mill his bis place of residence d ence and business busine s when he arrived there he be was noticed to stagger around and a neighbor went to see if anything was tho the matter butte but tie seemed to think it was fatigue and would feel all when w ben he should get rested in the evening as ai tile the supper was ready mrs hodges went to inform him and found him prostrated on the floor stricken with paralysis from then his bie speech gradually left him and he be filially succumbed to lo the destroyer ile he died without a struggle and nil so far as we could judge we woula loulu think that it would be impossible to terminate this mortal life except absolutely suddenly any easier than he did the deceased was born in devonport devenport england he had been a member of the church of jesus jesu christ of latter day saints nearly fifty two years presided foi some years over the deven devenport port and also als over the briston brane branches besof of the church emigrated in 1884 to lake town where he be has bas cioce resided ile he took great delight in ir Ni visiting the people in their homes administering to the sick and barly in preaching the doctrines of I 1 I 1 the church and what appears to be quite a grat gratifying irving coincidence was i the fact that practically his last words d and lid work on earth was preaching ng and testifying of the fill I 1 of I 1 the he gospel lie died in the harness so to pleak and died at the advanced age of 78 years 5 months and 17 dav F funeral services were held nl at the ward meeting house nt at which added to the usual musical exercise exercise remarks marks giving the synopsis of the life and ami labors of the deceased elder were made mada by elders joseph ir win N LAI hodges wro win gordon joshua eldrege and G george eorge 11 II we webb bb at the grave yard the hymn hymns 0 sly lafy fattier father was sung and the prayer of dadi dedication cation was wall offered by elder N al lodges hodge blessed are the dead who die in the lord josi josiph JOSEPH ph july 31 1895 |
