Show COMMITTED. During the examination of W. D. Whitley, charged with assaulting officer Everill with a pistol on the morning of Sept. 27th the evidence was very conflicting, but the committing magistrate thought that there was reasonable ground to believe the defendant guilty, and at the conclusion of the examination on Tuesday evening ordered him to be held under bonds to await the action of the grand jury. Bonds were not forthcoming and the defendant was committed. His counsel will apply for a habeas corpus. |
