Show LATEST TELEGRAPH NEWS. Egyptian War News. Alexandria, July 31 - A report prevails that the garrison of Abohkar has surrendered to the British. A traveler just arrived from Siontle reports that Arabi Pasha has issued a manifesto declaring the Khedive Tewfik has sold Egypt to the British and retired to England. Arabi therefore ordered the people to obey him until the prophet has enlightened him to find a worthier Khedive. Arabi Pasha has had publicly read the proclamation of the Khedive dismissing him from the ministry. He has assumed the turban and robes of decedents of the prophet. Arabi Pasha is still parlaying with the Khedive. The latter has intimated that no terms will be acceptable except unconditional surrender. It is said the Bedouins have undertaken to furnish 60,000 men, the chiefs remaining as hostages in Arabi Pasha's hands. Six ????? of Upper Egypt have ordered????????????????? to reinforce Arabi Pasha. Murders are constantly occurring in railway trains. The mob search every train for Christians. London, July 30 - The Scots Guards, 750 strong, this morning embarked on the transport Orient for Egypt. There was a great crowd of people outside the barracks, and the troops departed amid tremendous enthusiasm. Constantinople, Aug. (August) 1 - According to intelligence received from diplomatic source the action of Russia is due to the personal initiative of the Czar Alexander, who is dissatisfied with the independent attitude of England and directly hostile to the British pretension in Egypt. Alexandria, Aug. (August) 1 - The state of the town is causing serious disquiet. The natives who remained are incendiaries and the majority of those who returned are looters, looking after their concealed plunder. It is impossible to mistake the bitterly hostile attitude of this class and of the native police. Alexandria, July 31 - There are troops enough here to hold Alexandria against any attack by Arabi Pasha, though scarcely enough to drive the enemy back to Cairo. Arabi has organized a committee of five officers in Cairo to prepare for defense. Many peaceful natives have been arrested for lukewarmness in Arabi's cause. There is no hopes of good results from the negotiations between the Khedive and Arabi Pasha. A large number of the worst class of Bedouins are marching from Maraboud towards Alexandria. Marseilles, July 31 - The government ordered an infantry marine brigade preparing to start for Egypt to be disarmed and the transports withdrawn. St. (Saint) Petersburg, July 31 - The Russian press, with the exception of a few minor journals, continue hostile to England and are firmly persuaded that England will now have an account with Turkey as well as with Arabi Pasha. Constantinople, July 31 - The Admiralty are preparing nine transports. Four ironclads left for Egypt today. The Turkish troops will act jointly with the English. London, July 31 - A squadron of the First Life Guards with horses embarked at Liverpool, early this morning. The motion of the Marquis of Hartington approving the dispatch to Egypt of 500 Indian troops with a reserve of 1,000 was agreed to in the House of Commons by 140 to 23. Fatal Collision. South Bend, Indiana, Aug. (August) 1 - Two freight trains collided on the Lake Shore Railroad, just west of this city, this morning. The cars, to a number of sixty, were piled upon the engines and taking fire, bur5ned up. The engineers were buried under the debris, but were rescued before the flames reached them. There were tramps on the train and four of them insist that seven of their comrades are in the burning mass. The loss is estimated at $150,000. Guiteau's Bones. Geo. (George) Scoville has notified Dr. Hicks that he will contest Guiteau's alleged will with reference to the murderer's remains. Mining Exposition Opened. Denver, Col. (Colorado), Aug. (August) 1 - The National Mining Exposition was opened today at twelve o'clock. Nearly every state was represented. The military from Leadville and other towns of the State participated in the opening exercises. The city is crowded with strangers. Hon. (Honorable) W.D. Kelly, of Pennsylvania making the opening address. A Diabolical Deed. St. Louis, July 31 - On Thursday last a Negro named Caldwell attempted to ravish Mrs. Peck, a white woman, 60 years old, at Canton, Mo. (Missouri), but was prevented by the timely arrival of several men who appeared on the scene in response to the cries of the old lady. The negro was arrested yesterday. He had a preliminary examination and in default of bail was remanded to jail. Between 12 and 1 o'clock, this morning, a party of about 100 men took Caldwell from the jail, hanged him to the Iron Mountain railroad bridge near by, after which they fired several shots into his body to make their work doubly sure. Foul Play Suspected. Boston, July 30 - The funeral of Geo. (George) K. Proctor, a prominent citizen, whose death was reported from paralysis Thursday, was stopped by a medical examiner who found a bullet wound in the back of the head which, the physicians say could not have been self-inflicted. A pistol was found secreted under the stairs of the cellar of his house with one chamber discharged. Railroad Defaulting Clerk. Chicago. July 21 - Cashier Gaze of First National Bank, says Richards, the defaulting clerk of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad, cannot have secured over $8,000 by imposing on the bank teller. A Desperado Killed. Beardstown, Ill. (Illinois), July 31 - Lane Wilson, a desperado, was shot and instantly killed by Charles Miller yesterday. Wilson made a murderous assault on Miller, and the shooting maws in self-defense. Senator Edmunds Retiring. Washington, July 31 - It is reported that Senator Edmunds contemplates resigning and devoting himself entirely to his profession. River and Harbor Bill Steal.
