Show BROKEN LEG. Jacob Wilhelm, a gentleman who lives in the northern part of town and who had been engaged last Saturday in raking hay in a field north of the city, was on his way home when he came to a rather bad bridge in the road, which he had to cross. The holdsback straps were very slack and as the rake came on to the bridge, it ran against the horse, which became frightened and commenced kicking and struck Mr. Wilhelm on the leg, breaking it between the knee and ankle. The horse continued his kicking and running and Mr., Wilhelm saw that in another instant he would be in another ditch; so to prevent another disaster of the same kind, he threw himself off the back of the rake on to the ground. A young man, an employee of Mr. Paul Cardon, was working near, and witnessed the affair, and when he saw Mr. W, fall ran to his assistance. He was brought to the city where he was attended by Dr. (Doctor) Lamoreaux, who set the fractured limb. The break was a very bad one, and the bone protruded through the flesh on the shin. The patient is doing well. |
