Show THE LAST ISSUE

The Ogden Daily Junction of February 14th, 1881, contains the valedictory of the Junction Printing Association, in which it is announced the issue of the Junction of that date will be the last. The reasons for its permanent suspension are the same that usually cause the death of newspapers in this region, a lack of patronage, and the delinquency of subscribers in pay for their papers. The latter particularly, is principal cause of the suspension of the Junction.

The Leader was founded by the Junction Printing Association, from whom it was purchased, on the first day of September last, by its present proprietors, and we have always felt kindly towards the Junction, and its [unreadable lines] and the attendant ??? as to its owners. The latter are six young men, four of them practical members, who something over two years ago, purchased the Junction printing establishment, and though their experience in the proprietorship of a Utah newspaper has doubtless been fraught with many valuable lessons, it has been the opposite of profitable to them financially.

The Junction will be superseded by the Weber County Herald, the publication of which will commence on or about March 1st, by a joint stock company, of which D. H. Peery is president, and the Bishops of Weber Stake are directors. We await with anticipation, the first issue of our new contemporary. |
