Show THROWN FROM A SLEIGH At Providence on Sunday evening last after meeting, some of the young people were engaging in a sleigh ride. Two sleigh loads came up together and the drivers were eager for a race, so they started and all went well until they reached a corner, where they turned. One team made so short an angle in turning that the vehicle switched suddenly, throwing its occupants upon the ground. Miss Sylvia Chugg received an ugly gash on the forehead and some other scratches on the face. Miss Louisa Hammond sustained an injury internally. Some others were hurt but not so seriously. Though this was a result of an accident, it should prove a lesson to those who engage in races with sleighs; as turning a corner at a high rate of speed is very apt to result disastrously. |
