Show Editor Leader - Spring has come again and we are all happy. The birds are singing their best, the grass is starting nicely, and the plowman whistles merrily as he follows his plow. Last night we had a gentle April shower. The boys and girls are angling for the speckled beauties of the river. We lately had a call for Temple donations, our little branch responded to the amount of about sixty dollars in cash, and we hope to do more in the near future. President Pool preached the first gospel sermon at Eagle Rock March 19th, 1882. Subject the first principles of "Mormonism." While writing I can see two deer gamboling on the green, and last week five elk passed my door. If your sheet overbalances the wrong way come up and I will help you hunt and fish. The elk were in wagon boxes and the deer were pet ones, so do not go into ecstasies; keep cool. We have lost about two per cent of our stock the past winter and part of them wintered out. I can see a brother grooming a fine stallion colt. I have been out as the western man says, "scooping in" his points; fourteen hands high, and 22 inches, shoulder 54 inches; color a beautiful black, pedigree Hamiltonian and Gold Dust. At Eagle Rock they have received the railroad appropriation for school purposes. On the last day of March school closed for a short vacation. In the review of lessons the students did credit to themselves and teacher. More anon, D. H. Carr, Snake River, April 6th, 1882. |
