Show GOING FOR THE GOVERNOR. The Silver Reef Miner is not a "Mormon" paper. In fact, it is intensely anti- "Mormon" and its cuts and flings at the religion to which Utah owes her existence as a commonwealth to-day, are often unworthy a respectable journal. But the Miner man wields a pungent pen with which he prods our ?? governor as follows. The article is headed, "Mr. Murray Governor," and shows how men of sense whatever their creed, view this senseless official: "A strange man this Mr. Murray from Kentucy, who presumes to be Governor of Utah. He was little known, either at home or abroad, to be ??, and would have continued in his becoming obscurity had it not been that circumstances made it necessary for him to sign the certificate of somebody as Delegate after the ?? election. This demonstrated the ?? scope of the fellow so completely that almost anything might be expected from him, and consequently his recent gyrations have caused less surprise than otherwise. This inflated fifteen hundred dollar per-annum ?? has no doubt ambitious longings, and looks with avaricious eye on Utah Statehood and the U. S. ?? Mr. Murray's crooked intellect is correctly photographed in his recent proceedings. His veto of the ammended [amended] exemption law, the bill for the collection of small debts, the incorporation act for this city, etc., shows plainly that Mr. Murray knows little or nothing concerning the wants of the people of the Territory, and is, in general terms, an ignoramus." |
