Show BIRTHDAY TESTIMONIAL. The labors of those who work faithfully, without money or reward, for the welfare and salvation of others, are not often appreciated as they should be. But such is not the case with Sister C. Liljenquist, who has long presided over the Relief Society of Hyrum. On Jan. 1st, New Year's day, several sisters of the Society called upon her and left the following written testimonial, signed by many members of the Society, and accompanied by a number of nice holiday presents: Dear Sister Liljenquist:-Please accept of this small token of the love and esteem of your sisters with their congratulations on the return of another aniversary [anniversary] of your birth for we realize that it is through the mercy of our Heavenly Father that you have been permitted to live and preside so many years with dignity, love and kindness over your sisters, who love and revere you as a mother for the many kind deeds which you are continually prompted by the Spirit of God to perform. May you yet live many years, and be able to do all the good your heart desires, and when you are called away that you may receive a glorious reward, is the wish and prayer of your sisters. Appended were the following verses: Then may we all be faithful, And labor, day by day, With our dear and honored President To guide us on the way. We know it is our mission To cheer the lowly heart; To comfort the afflicted And bear each one a part. Then please accept, dear Sister, This offering of your friends, With our best and kindred wishes That your joys may never end. Hyrum, Jan. 1st, 1882. |
