Show SURGICAL OPERATION. A little 6-year-old daughter of Mr. Robert Murdock, who lives in the second ward, was playing in a wheat bin some six weeks ago when she stepped on a piece of glass which penetrated the bottom of her heel, near the centre, out of sight. The wound healed up, but it became evident that there was still a foreign substance in the foot. In time the piece of glass worked upward, and could be felt in the flesh inside the ankle joint. On Monday last Dr. Norcross extracted from the ankle a piece of window glass, sharp at both ends, about one and a quarter inches long by three sixteenths wide. The operation was a delicate one but the patient is doing well. |
