Show MUNICIPAL LEAGUEl TO MEET IN PROVO THIS MONTH-EN-TERTAINMENT City Council Asks Chief of Po-lice Po-lice to Arrest Offenders of the Anti-Expcctoration Ordinance Ordi-nance in this City DrippinR Awninps Must be Repaired. Many small matters were taken up at the meeting of the city conn-oil conn-oil last night. Tho bills for the post month were passed on. The following matters were considered: Tho city council has mado n special request that the city marshal enforce the anti-expectoration ordinance. ordi-nance. Marshal Williams says ho is anxious to enforce the law in this record. Tho business houses who hove nwnings extending over tho sidewalks, side-walks, and those whose spouts deliver de-liver water from the roof of their house to the sidewalks, must hereafter here-after prevent the nwnings from lenk-intr, lenk-intr, nnd the water spouts from scattering the woter all over the sidewalks, or they will get into trouble. The citv council has so instructed Marshal Williams. The question of the city's right in the county court house, which has been a bone of contention for years, has been leferred to the committee com-mittee on public grounds nnd city property by the city council. Counrilmnn Van "Wagonen of the Fifth ward Is In Los Angeles, nnd it is reported that he expects to make, his home there. City Recorder Re-corder Johnson has been instructed to communicate with Mr, Van Wagonen and ask if tho report is true. If it is it will give Mn,e one else a chance to represent tho Fifth ward. The State Municipal Ixsigue will meet here on Dec. 20 and 30, and the city council has been asked by Mayor Decker to arrongo for a proper reception of the visitors. The Joint committee consisting of the committee on publio grounds and city proprtyand the committee on finance appointed by tho city council to consider the application of President Taylor of the library board for $2000 to liquidate the indebtedness of the Provo free public pub-lic library has recommended a tax levy of ouo mill for library purposes pur-poses till the debt is paid. The city attorney has been instructed in-structed to file a protest against the appropriation of Provo river water by John D, Dixon and Caleb Tanner. A number of citireu have asked I the city council to have tho old J mill, formerly known as tho old Tanner mill, removed, as it is said to be the resort of questionable characters ami therefore a nuisance. The city council has referred the matter to the board of health. |
