Lowls' steel trap last spring, has already cost Mr. Lewis over $100, and a nolghbor hood row ot such proportions has gtown up that It Is probable that further fur-ther costs will pllo up. Whlto hod Lewis arrested laBt spring on n chargo of stealing chick-oiis, chick-oiis, nnd tho Jury assessed Mr. Lewis ono dollar and casts. Lowls retaliated recently nnd had'Whlto arrested on a complaint that Whlto'a chicken hnd damaged Lewis' garden at least eight dollars' worth. Whlto responded with a cross-complaint claiming eight dollars dol-lars damago for chickens which ho alleges al-leges Lowls stolo from htm. Tho Jury found a verdict In favor of Whlto nnd assessed damages at 25 cents, but Lewis must pay tho costs of tho case, which, coupled with costs ot tho former for-mer trial, bring tho total up to $100. Tho trial was bitterly fought and Interesting In-teresting testimony regarding tho neighborhood foud was brought out by tho attornoys. Whether both men nro satisfied remains to bo seen, but relations rela-tions aro so stralnod that It Is probable prob-able that tho chicken quarrel will remain re-main a ltvo one. |
