Show A Sad Death. Mrs. Jano Davis Lewis died nt her homo In this city lust Thursdny nt a.m. or pneumonia. Mrs. Low is wa ill only a little less than ono week ami her death comes as a sovcro shock to her many friends. Funeral services were hold at tho Third ward nssombly rooms yesterday fiftornnou, nnd were largoly attended by friends and relatives rela-tives of the deceased. Jano Davis was born at Llanvern, Ddol Iron, North Wales, November 20, 18.'15. She Joined tho Church of Josus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints in 1851, being baptized by Elder Hugh Morris. She was married to Wm. J. Lowls. April 0, 1830, just nlnb days prior to tholr immigration to Utah, lllshnp and Mrs. Lewis belonged to tho third company of hand-carts, coming here under charge of Captain Edward Duukur, and endured all the hardships attendant upon such a Journey. They settled in Ogdon Iinme-dlatuly Iinme-dlatuly upon their arrival In Utah in 1800, and moved to Provo In May, 1858, whero they havo since resided, Mrs. Lewis was for a long tiiuo a teacher In tho first Sunday school organized or-ganized In Provo and was n leader In tho Relief society. Slio was thu mother of two sons and live daughters, all of whom but ono (laughter survive hor. All her children are married, and thero aro seventeen grandchildren who unite In sorrow for their loss. Mn. Lewis was a loving mother and n good cltt-zon, cltt-zon, and all of I'rovo unites In sympathy sym-pathy to tho bereaved husband and family. |
