Show Governor Wells has issued a proclamation calling for volunteers for the army, which volunteers will be stationed end drilled for awhile at Fort Douglap, subject to further orders. Gov. Wells's proclamation was as follows: By the Governor of the State of Utah a proclamation. Whereas, On the 25th day of April, A. D., 1898, an executive proclamation was issued calling for volunteers to the approximate number of 500 men, to enlist in j tho army of the United States for. the term of two years, unless aooner discharged, for the purpose of forming one troop of cavalry, special mounted service, and two light batteries of artillery: and Whereas, The Secretary of War lias called upon the executive of this State for the enlistment of oigty-five men to form a company in a mounted rifle regiment, to serve for two years unless sooner discharged: Now, therefore, I, Heber M. Wells, Governor of the Slate of Utah, for tha purpose of facilitating facilitat-ing the enlistment of the required number of men to form tho said organizations do hereby appoint Richard W. Youug.Willard Young, Frank A. Grant, George W. Gibbs, Joseph E. Caine, John Q. Cannon, George Dewey and Ray C. Nay lor recruiting officers to serve until such enlistment shall be completed. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused tho groat seal of the State of Utah to be hereunto affixed. Done at Salt Lake City, this 26th day of April, A. D., 1898.. By tho Governor.
